I have just upgraded and I also do not have a bkank url in either sef or custom. the first one on the list is atom?

Do you have the "Default" menu item assigned to menu item type other then article component (such as frontpage etc.)?
If yes, then try to create the SEF URL manually in AceSEF=>SEF URLs section, steps:

1. Go to menu that your Default menu item is pointed (generally main menu)

2. Click on the menu item and copy the "ID" and "Link" entries then click on Cancel to get out of there

3. Finilize the Real URL by uniting the copied items like this:
index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1

4. Go to AceSEF=>SEF URLs, click on "New" button

5. Leave blank the SEF URL field and enter the created Real URL to the Real URL field, then set other parts as you want (meta etc)

Or you can apply this fix, since it's a Joomla bug:

Ok I just emailed you again. I tried the solution you provided and still doesn't work for me. I cleared my cache to ensure everything was up to date but still not updating the keywords on the homepage.

Additionally I just upgraded to the latest version 1.3.8 and for some reason can't access the extensions section. I get the following error: Fatal error: Call to undefined method AcesefModelExtensions::view_setExtensions() in /home/fullyequ/public_html/administrator/components/com_acesef/controllers/extensions.php on line 36

I checked your site and it's more than normal not updating metadata because you use RSSeo at the same time and because of the RSSeo plugin is ordered as last the meta you've set in RSSeo=>Pages will be active, not AceSEF's one. You should make a choise between AceSEF and RSSeo.

Ok I rarely use RSSEO so AceSEF is the choice for me. I just use RSSEO to check site performance and to check how my individual site pages rank. If I re-ordered the plugins can I use them together? If not I'll just uninstall it.

Yes, if you order RSSeo plugin before AceSEF then the AceSEF's meta will be active. However, I can't say anything for furhter incompatibilies I mean maybe RSSeo won't work if you put it before AceSEF, sorry
