TOPIC: Eventlist issue

1 month, 3 weeks ago #23181

Eventlist issue

I am using the free version of AceSearch and nicely getting to grips with your excellent component but have an issue with the extension that searches Eventlist items (ie. events). The search results return a date but this is the date that the event was entered into the Eventlist directory, not the actual date of the event. Normally that would not be an issue with results such as news articles (K2) or entries into a hotel directory (Sobi2) but if people are searching and see a date in the search results that lists events, they are naturally going to think that is the date of the event !!

I looked in the settings and spotted the 'Show Properties' radio button which switches on/off the line with date in it. Perhaps it might be a good idea to modify the Eventlist so it returns the event date rather the created date?

Does the paid for version offer any further functionality to accommodate this?

Edit.
I have just looked at the advanced search page and this is going to cause even more confusion to users. You can enter date ranges which any user is going to think he is searching for dates of the events, not when it was actually entered into Eventlist. This is a very big usability issue.

Re: Eventlist issue

You're totally right, we're going to remove that option within a couple of days. You can also disable the "Date Range" and "Days" options from AceSearch=>Extensions=>EventList parameters page.

I have tried the above but the date still appears despite disabling both "Days" and "Date Range". Please see attached.

Re: Eventlist issue

I'm sorry but that is all what you can do at the moment. In the next version you'll have options to show/hide each property. It'll be released next week.

Just wondering if this has been fixed yet?

Re: Eventlist issue

Will you implement the ability to search for events that take place within specified dates? That would be the ultimate solution rather than simply omitting any reference to the date (of an event) within search results. Perhaps I maybe rather isolated in my opinion but I feel displaying events without any date information is going to be very frustrating to my users.
