Why OpenCart?
Because OpenCart is a full-featured e-Commerce Application that has been selected in the Top 3 list of the Best e-Commerce Application by PackPub several times.
OpenCart is designed in a modular way and has tons of Payment Gateways, Shipping Methods, Themes, Languages, Modules etc in it's Extensions Directory. It's being developed since 2005 so why re-invent the wheel by starting to write a component from scratch and wait for (min) 2-3 years until it gets to a stable and extension-rich level?
Further more, OpenCart is not developed by a limited number of developers for a company (like other Joomla e-commerce components) but it is an Open Source project just like Joomla and is developed by a large community. Because Joomla is one of the world’s most popular open source CMS (content management system).
